Dr. Charrita D. Danley graduated from Tougaloo College with a B.A. in English. She pursued graduate studies at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where she earned a M.A. in English Rhetoric and Composition and Technical Writing. After completing graduate studies, she began her career teaching English at the secondary level. While teaching, she continued her education, earning a Ph.D. in English Rhetoric Composition and Linguistics from Georgia State University. After leaving the classroom, she spent time in state government before entering the field of higher education.
Her passion for writing and her love of story-telling led Dr. Danley to found Chideria Publishing, Inc. and to publish the novel, Through the Crack. |
Set in the South, the novel explores a family’s journey from addiction to recovery, exposing the physical, mental, and emotional struggles experienced along the way. Through the written word, she continues to explore themes that affect today’s society. As an artist, she is actively involved in supporting all forms of art, particularly African American theatre. Her novel is currently being prepared for presentation as a stage play. She also writes in various other genres, including poetry, non-fiction, and academic research.
A proponent of effective communication, Dr. Danley is also the founder of DANLEY Writing Consultants, an organization that provides writing and editorial services that develop clients’ concepts and ideas into well-written products. In addition, she conducts presentations, workshops, and seminars related to writing, linguistics and various educational topics.
